The Brewintish Plus: A Remarkable 3D Printed Replica of the 1986 Mac Plus

Kevin Noki, a dedicated Macintosh enthusiast from Germany, has recently completed a remarkable project: cloning and 3D printing a fully functional replica of the iconic 1986 Mac Plus. Dubbed the “Brewintish Plus,” this labor-intensive endeavor spanned over 40 weekends of meticulous work. Despite the challenges posed by the rarity of finding a working original Mac Plus, especially in his region, Noki embarked on this ambitious project driven by his passion for vintage Macintosh computers. Instead of taking shortcuts, he opted for a meticulous approach, modeling each individual part of the Mac Plus and then painstakingly 3D printing them to create exact replicas. Using software tools like AutoDesk Fusion 460, Noki ensured that every component was rendered to precise production specifications. Additionally, he incorporated enhancements such as augmenting a USB floppy drive reader with an Arduino-controlled motor, showcasing his diverse skill set in soldering and programming. Through this project, Noki’s dedication to preserving computing history and making it accessible to future generations shines through, highlighting his commitment to the Macintosh community and its rich legacy.
