The inaugural Steering Committee meeting, led by Federal Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal, marked a significant step towards streamlining the effective execution of the 5Es framework. Attended by senior officials from federal and provincial ministries and divisions, the meeting underscored the commitment to implementing the framework to foster economic growth and development in Pakistan. As part of the resolution, the Steering Committee has planned to organize a One-Day consultative workshop post-Eid, inviting officials from all ministries and relevant stakeholders to participate in discussions aimed at charting a course for the successful implementation of the 5Es framework. The framework, centered around five fundamental pillars including Exports, E-Pakistan, Environment and climate change, Energy and infrastructure, and Equity and empowerment, was endorsed by the National Economic Council last year, highlighting its importance in shaping Pakistan’s economic trajectory. During the upcoming workshop, stakeholders and experts from diverse backgrounds, including academia and industry, will be invited to present their proposals and insights. The objective is to finalize an action plan that aligns with the overarching goals of the 5Es framework, aiming to bolster economic resilience and competitiveness. Minister Ahsan Iqbal, while chairing the meeting, emphasized the pivotal role of key sectors such as agriculture, industry, and services in driving economic growth. He also stressed the significance of embracing technological advancements to propel Pakistan towards becoming a $100 billion export-oriented economy within the next 7 to 8 years. The Steering Committee’s deliberations and the planned workshop reflect a concerted effort to harness the country’s potential and pave the way for sustainable economic development.
