PMLN Senator Irfan Siddiqui, a figure closely associated with former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, has expressed his belief that Senator Ishaq Dar will eventually join the federal cabinet as the finance minister. This statement was made on Wednesday, adding fuel to speculation about Dar’s potential role in the upcoming government led by Shehbaz Sharif.
Responding to queries about Dar’s prospects in the government, Senator Siddiqui indicated that Dar is expected to retire from the Senate in March 2024 and is likely to be re-elected to the Upper House. However, Siddiqui dismissed the possibility of Dar being elected as the chairman of the Senate, given the Pakistan Peoples Party’s hold on the Chairman Senate’s slot.
Instead, Siddiqui suggested that Dar’s eventual destination would be the federal cabinet, with a strong likelihood of him assuming the role of finance minister. This speculation underscores the political dynamics and potential developments within the Pakistani government, particularly regarding key ministerial appointments.
