Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) candidate and President Asif Ali Zardari’s youngest daughter, Aseefa Bhutto, has secured an uncontested victory in the NA-207 Shaheed Benazirabad (formerly Nawabshah) 1 constituency. The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) officially declared Aseefa as a member of the National Assembly without facing any opposition. Initially, 11 candidates, including Aseefa, had submitted their nomination papers for the by-poll on the aforementioned seat, which was vacated by Zardari when he assumed the presidency after being jointly nominated by the ruling coalition. However, three candidates withdrew their nominations, and seven nominations were rejected by the electoral authority. Aseefa’s uncontested win solidifies her position in the political landscape, marking another chapter in the Bhutto family’s legacy.
