Quetta Gladiators’ spinner Usman Tariq has received clearance to resume bowling in the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) season nine, effective Tuesday.
Tariq will be eligible for selection in Quetta Gladiators’ last league match today against Multan Sultans at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi.
Following an assessment of his bowling action at the National Cricket Academy in Lahore, Tariq received advice regarding his technique.
The Quetta spinner is permitted to continue bowling until his action is reported by the umpires for a second time. However, should his action be reported again, he will be suspended from bowling until he successfully clears the necessary tests.
Tariq’s action came under scrutiny during a match between Quetta Gladiators and Karachi Kings on March 6, officiated by on-field umpires Richard Illingworth and Asif Yaqoob.
In PSL 9, Tariq has secured two wickets in three matches.
As PSL 9 progresses, with one round match remaining between Quetta Gladiators and Multan Sultans today, the focus shifts to the playoffs starting from March 14.
Zalmi currently lead the standings with 13 points. Regardless of the result between Gladiators and Sultans, Babar Azam’s side will secure a spot in Qualifier 1.
The winner of the Gladiators and Sultans match will face Zalmi. A Gladiators victory will see them finish on 13 points, while a triumph for Sultans will elevate them to 14 points.
